Sunday 11 November is the centenary of the First World War.
To mark this special occasion a lone piper will play 'Battle's O'er' at 6.00am, followed by a Mass for the Faithful Departed at 10.00am. At 7.05pm the Cathedral and over a thousand other churches across the country will ring their bells as part of 'RInging Out for Peace'.
Garden of Remembrance
The Cathedral will create a Garden of Remembrance in the Chapel of St George. From the 26 October, and throughout November, you will be able to purchase a Poppy Cross for £2, write the name of the soul you wish to be prayed for, and place it in the garden. You can see from the pictures below the progress that has been made on creating a space in the Chapel of St George for our Garden of Remembrance.
The beautiful 'Garden of Remembrance'. A fitting tribute to those souls who gave their lives during the First World War and subsequent conflicts.
