Would you like to help out in some way in the life of the Church? Great! We have a number of ways parishioners can volunteer their time to help the Church. See below for details.
Church Welcomers' Would you like to sit or stand at the entrance to the Church, welcome parishioners and visitors, hand out the Order of Mass and Newsletter and direct them to the hymn books? This role involves being able to speak comfortably with all types of people, but not public speaking.
Reader of the Word At every Mass we listen to the Word of God proclaimed from the Ambo. This is an opportunity for a lay person to be really involved in the life of the Church, by reading the Word of God to the congregation. So, if you are good at getting up and speaking in front of people, and have a bit of confidence, this may be the role for you.
Evangelising If you would like to help spread the Word of God, either through getting out into the community to speak to people about your faith, or by helping us to arrange evangelising event, then please contact either Margaret Hawe, Fiona Weekes or contact the parish office and one of our team will call you back.
Cleaners Would you like to help keep the Cathedral or the Cathedral centre clean? If you enjoy a bit of vacuuming then please let Terry O'Carroll, the Chairman of our Parish Council, know. He'll put you to work!
As a volunteer you may be required to undergo a DBS check as part of our Safeguarding. This is a simple check that we must carry out on anyone who works within the parish, paid or voluntary, who may come into contact with children or vulnerable adults. It can be a very quick process and costs nothing for the person undergoing the check.
If you'd like to help out at the Church, but you'd like to do something that isn't listen above then please contact the parish office who can pass your details on to someone who can help you.
